Assault and Battery
Assault and battery are closely related crimes. Battery is the willful and unlawful use of force against another and assault is an attempted battery. Both are general intent crimes. All that is required is an intent to do the act that injures the victim.
There is no requirement that the defendant intend to break the law or even to
injure the victim
